T245 thermocouple sensors with a ceramic ø 24 mm protection tube are designed for high temperatures where protection tubes made of steel corrode rapidly. With K-type sensors, we use 3 mm wire pairs with a multiple life span when compared to 1 mm wire pairs. K-type thermocouples can be used up to 1,100 °C. However, for temperatures above 1000 °C we recommend  S-type thermocouples (with 0.35 mm wire) because their stability and aging are only a fraction compared to K-type sensors.

S-type thermocouple endures a continuous temperature of 1,450 °C and momentarily up to 1,700 °C with a wire pair thickness of ø 0.5 mm. We do not recommend a thinner ø 0.35 mm wire pair for continuous temperatures above 1,300 °C. All S-type sensors have a C799 ceramic protection tube with a max. temperature resistance of 1,800 °C. Sensor mounting flange KLP-32.
